Absolutely a place worth trying, the food is good and fresh, the cost is convenient and it is constantly well organized here. Highly recommended.

We arrived at this restaurant for dinner. my friend recommended this place. Well, it was a winning. the staff were so friendly and we had an excellent feeling. The food was just great. We had a great time and we will definitely return to this restaurant. We recommend this place to all.

Recently grabbed some dinner and although the food is still good the new owner has made some changes. Not everyone enjoys the small changes people make to save a couple of bucks. All & all the food and service is still good!

bbq at this place - super good. This place will surprise you. The staff was friendly and sociable. The bill won't break you. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I loved.

The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that I didn't try the ribs or chicken. The brisket sandwich was awesome housed in toasted garlic bread. The pickles, celery, peppers, and carrot medley sitting on the table was a perfect addition to the meal. The sides were very good ... especially the potato salad and the beans. A great time with friends and family. Highly recommended.

My favorite place to eat when I come back to California to visit. I lived in California my whole life and 15 years ago I moved to Texas. Texas BBQ is not like my Bear Pit. I love it

This is a very nice, old-school barbeque joint! Nice ambiance, great food and a large menu. Prices are decent, and the portions are generous. If you leave hungry, it's your own fault!

The bar-b-q is amazing every time I go I have to take home a bottle or to off their sauce.

I was just in the mood for ribs which I haven't had in ages because I'm on a low sodium, low fat Cardiac diet. I happened to be in Mission Hills and the car just took over the steering wheel and drove me to Beat Pit BBQ.It was late afternoon around 330P, so there was no wait..I ordered the Rib Sandwich consisting of 6 meaty, tasty Baby back ribs, BBQ Baked beans, homemade Cole slaw and a huge slice of garlic toast. There was a side dish of pickles, celery, carrots and a hot pepper to complete the meal. Ummmm.... It was DEEEELISHUS!The waitress was delightful. She knew from experience that ribs are not a 1 napkin meal. She gave me 6! LOL!!I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED my Bear Pit BBQ lunch.

This place is okay. It's got a bit more of the 'old timey' feel than I'd like, but the food is good and the service is good. I've NEVER been disappointed in the food.

Ordered the beef kodiak for pick up with a side of mac slaw and fries. Amazing. Been here a few times over the years and it's always been on point. Been trying to support local restaurants lately. Stoked and completely happy with the bear pit. Always worth it.

Great local BBQ spot that I have come with both family and friends! Great taste, portions, and overall awesome BBQ!The customer service can be hit or miss but overall it's great and the food makes up for anything else!

I think they were a little under staffed but the waitress we had did a great job.. I'm sorry I didn't get her name. She said she was doing both the front and the back.. Good job

I am so glad my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this restaurant on our recent trip in SoCal. Their own BBQ sauce is so good! I wish I could have brought some back home with me. Since I wasn't in the mood for a really big meal, I ended up getting the BBQ salad with a side of minestrone soup. Both were really flavorful and delicious. The staff was great and always came to check on us and ask how the food was and if there was anything more they could get for us. Cute little hole in the wall restaurant, will be back when I can make it down there again.

Simple classic BBQ dishes made well day in and day out. If you want BBQ for lunch go here. Also, the environment is comfortable for conversation. The ambience hasn't changed in over 20 years. Lovely, kind waiting staff. A little over priced for the portion size.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, the quality has only gotten better over the years and it's still got some of the best ribs and Texas toast on the planet. If I could rate them higher I would. I always feel like I'm coming home when I walk in the doors.

The place is great and broad, the menu was delicious and the prices were very inexpensive. rapidly, efficient service and very welcoming staff. Highly recommended.

Had a great night in here. The staff were attentive and the food was fantastic, couldn't eat it all but thanks to the doggy containers and bags we could enjoy it later. Would recommend the Bear Pit Bar-B-Q Restaurant.

Been getting bear pit specials on garlic toast for most my life. A true staple of the valley

Same recipes since the 60's I've been dinning here since i was a child.. no more sawdust on the floor, but same friendly service, and good portions. The old style bbq sauce is my favorite! (There is a new style) I can't comment on that. My grown children, love Bear Pit too... P.S. I now live in Texas.. I head to Bear Pit when I'm back in LA. You should know going in it's not cheap fast food BBQ!

Best restaurant ever. I live in Northern CA, but have to stop there any time I'm near. Wish there was more like it.

My family drives over 50 miles to eat here. It's an old family favorite place of ours. This is old school barbecue where everything has that smoky rich flavor you can't get by taking short cuts. I love the sliced pork sandwiches on garlic toast, also their ribs are tender and juicy, the side dishes are good too. Friendly and helpful staff make our visit even better

Beef ribs were a bit dry but opefully the next lunch visit will be better.

I go here every year with my fiance's family when they visit. The ribs and chicken are dry and lacking flavor. Even drenching them in BBQ sauce won't help. I did have the ham sandwich the last time I went and it was great! Their beans are okay, there's a sweetness to them. If u like potato salad, I suggest theirs. The fries were mediocre, not bad, not good. The service is good. Very friendly waitresses and fast cooks. The bathroom is clean and there's a good amount of parking. Another bonus is the 2 TV's in the back area.

Each time I come here with family and enjoy a wide variety of good food. I recommend the baby backs and bbq beans. Now first time I tried the mac n cheese and it's pretty good so give it a try. I mix my choices from the sliders to the sandwiches on garlic toast. What's good about the beans is the sauce and texture of the beans. Mac n cheese not to cheesey; but just the right amount of cheese. The baby backs are fall off the bone. While garlic toast is seasoned to perfection. Great Job. Finally we always take sauce home back in Nor Cal. I love the original and sweet, but not a spicey person so I do not get the spicey sauce. Anyway did a quick post chow time FAM later #beblessed

The restaurant is superb and spacious, the menu was enchanting and the rates were very reasonable. quickly, efficient service and very affable staff. I highly recommend this place.

This is my most favorite restaurant! I've been going here with my family for years and years. I always get the barbecue beef and garlic toast. It is absolutely amazing.

Great place to grab a quick bite of some legit BBQ. They have beer and wine and a ton of free parking. You can ask for your ribs with the barbecue sauce on the side and not on the top.

Someplace the food was listed as comfort food, which I totally agree. The portions were huge, the food is delicious, and the service excellent. Thank you, Shane, or Sean? The cheeseburger salad was delicious, as were the steaks. There were nine of us and everybody loved what they had. Even though we live out of the area, we plan to meet up there with friends anytime we are in the area.

You know how to tell if a BBW place is good? By the amount of Tums you need to cure the indigestion!!! Sweet sauce, great wait-staff. Huge portions. Sticky mess. Just what i like in a bbq!!

Good+ BBQ (alot of good choices-many choices menu, the Beef ribs were best, then spare ribs & short ribs), good Group seating, very Good Customer service (ask for Sandy), Stella beer by the pitcher, and the Lemon cake is Good+ Lemon cake.

Awesome place to grub. Very good spread, me and the wifey ate plentifully for $50, food was awesome. Service was friendly and solid. 100% recommend

Great traditional BBQ joint in the valley! Been here forever and my first time here was today. My beef brisket sandwich was a little dry but you add your own sauce which is on the table and it's fine. The sides of potato salad and Mac and cheese were delicious. Garlic toast is very reminiscent of Sizzler's cheese toast and was very tasty. Service was good and we enjoyed the rustic ambiance. Definitely waited too long to come here. Enjoy!

This is one of our all-time favorite restaurants. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is unpretentious and comfortable.

Incredible as it used to be 30 years ago! I used to get thinly sliced bbq lamb on garlic toast at the Bear Pit on Canoga, with sawdust on the floor and amazing bbq! We came from 800 miles away, up north in Yreka to enjoy your fabulous repast. It did not disappoint.
